Terms of Use

Last updated November 4, 2026. These terms apply to asphalt-calculators.org and everything on it.

Agreement to these terms

Asphalt Calculator is run by Asphalt Calculator Studio (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to these terms and to the way we handle data described in the privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. If you use it for a business, you confirm that you can accept these terms for that business.

The service

The site is a free asphalt calculator. From the size and compacted depth of one or more areas, the density you choose and a waste allowance, it estimates the tons of hot mix to order, the number of truckloads, the material cost at a price you enter, the loose depth to set the paver to, and how far a given load will go. It also explains its method and the published figures it uses.

You can use it for personal and commercial estimating, as often as you like, without an account or payment. There is no paid tier and nothing to buy on the site.

Estimates, not professional advice

Every result is an estimate worked out from the numbers you enter and the assumptions you choose. The real tonnage of a job also depends on things the calculator cannot see, including:

  • the actual density of the mix your plant supplies, which varies with stone, binder and mix design;
  • how level and firm the base is, and how much extra the low spots take;
  • how the crew lays and rolls the mat, and how much it compacts;
  • edges, tapers, tie-ins and material lost in handling;
  • the plant’s truck sizes, minimum loads and current prices, taxes and delivery charges.

Check quantities, depths and prices with your supplier or contractor before you order material, sign a contract or give a quote. The depth guidance and density figures on the site are general information drawn from published sources. They are not a pavement design, an engineering opinion or advice for your particular project; for anything beyond a typical driveway or lot, ask a qualified engineer or paving contractor.

Your part

You are responsible for the numbers you enter, for choosing a density and waste allowance that suit your mix and job, and for any decisions you make with the results. Before relying on a figure, look at the density and assumptions printed under the answer to make sure they are the ones you meant.

Acceptable use

Please use the site as an ordinary visitor would. Don’t:

  • try to break, overload or get around the site’s security, or probe it for weaknesses without our permission;
  • send automated traffic in volumes that slow the site down for others;
  • use the feedback form to send spam, advertising, malicious links or abusive messages;
  • copy the site as a whole, or present it or its results as your own service or as made by someone else;
  • use the site for anything unlawful.

Copy link and Share link put your inputs into the link itself. Anyone who has the link can open the same job and see those numbers. You decide who gets a link, and a link reflects the calculator as it works when it is opened, so results may change slightly if the method is corrected later.

Feedback you send

We are glad to get reports of mistakes and ideas for features. By sending feedback you let us use it to improve the site, freely and without owing you anything for it. Don’t send anything you are not allowed to share, or anything confidential. We read messages but can’t promise to reply to each one or to act on every suggestion.

Our content and how you may use it

The site’s text, tables, drawings, design and code belong to Asphalt Calculator Studio, except material that belongs to others and is credited as such (for example the public-domain photo on the home page and the documents listed as sources). You may:

  • use the results you get for your own work, including in quotes and reports for clients;
  • quote short parts of the text with a link back to the page you quoted;
  • link to any page of the site.

Please don’t republish whole pages or large parts of them, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you, without asking first.

Published figures and outside sources

Densities, rolldown factors, driveway depths and worked examples are taken from the documents listed under Sources on the home page. Those documents belong to their publishers; we summarize them and link to them. We aren’t affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, and we are not responsible for the content of other websites we link to or for changes their publishers make. If a source has been updated and our figures no longer match, please tell us.

Availability and changes to the service

We try to keep the site running and correct, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or because of problems with our hosting. We may change, add or remove features, correct the method or the published figures, or stop offering the site, at any time and without notice. Because the service is free, we don’t owe compensation for downtime or changes.

No warranties

The site and its results are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises, express or implied, that the site will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, free of errors or fit for a particular purpose, or that its results will match what you are invoiced or what is delivered.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or relying on its results, including ordering too much or too little material, extra delivery or restocking charges, delays, lost profit or business, or indirect or consequential losses. Where the law does not allow us to exclude liability, our total liability for any claim connected with the site is limited to US$50, since you pay nothing to use it.

Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability or rights that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or the statutory rights of consumers where you live. If a part of these terms is not allowed where you live, it simply doesn’t apply to you, and the rest still does.

Ending access

You can stop using the site at any time; there is no account to close. We may block access from addresses or automated clients that break these terms, for example by flooding the site or the feedback form.

General

These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the site. If we don’t enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later. If a court finds a part invalid, the rest stays in force. We may transfer the site and these terms to a new owner; your rights under them will not be reduced as a result.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the site gains a feature. The date at the top shows the latest version, and the version on this page at the time you use the site is the one that applies. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page.

Contact

Questions about these terms go through the Give feedback form or the contact page.
